Total Launcher Permissions - Suggested For New Installs

Android requires users to grant permissions to apps that want to use certain services and provide corresponding benefits. Users can deny any of these permissions, but Total Launcher may then be unable to provide related features.

TL does not automatically request permissions. Users should follow this process to grant or not grant the permissions reviewed below:

1. Initial installation
   1. At the opening page of TL, Edit Mode is On
   2. Using Android's standard gesture, access System settings by swiping down from the top of the device screen
      1. Scroll to Apps
      2. Select Total Launcher (it will show since it is being used by the device)
      3. Select Permissions
         1. The screen will show a listing of App Permissions: 'Allowed', 'Additional permissions', and 'Not allowed'
      4. Tap each permission listed, review its purpose, and decide whether to grant the permission. A summary of what may be shown on the Android listing is provided below for advance review:

• Calendar
  • The app can read all calendar events stored on the phone and share or save the calendar data
• Contacts and accounts
  • Find accounts on the device
    • Allows the app to get the list of accounts known by the phone. This may include any accounts created by applications installed
  • read contacts
    • Allows the app to read data about contacts stored on the phone. Apps will also have access to the accounts on the phone that have created contacts. This may include accounts created by apps the user has installed. This permission allows apps to save contact data, and malicious apps may share contact data without the user's knowledge.
• Location
  • access precise location only in the foreground
    • This app can get the precise location from location services while the app is in use. Location services for the device must be turned on for the app to get location. This may increase battery usage.
  • access approximate location only in the foreground
    • This app can get the approximate location from location services while the app is in use. Location services for the device must be turned on for the app to get location.
• Nearby devices
  • connect to paired Bluetooth devices
    • Allows the app to connect to paired Bluetooth devices
• Phone
  • reads phone status and identity
    • Allows the app to access the phone features of the device. This permission allows the app to determine the phone number and device IDs, whether a call is active, and the remote number connected by a call.
  • directly call phone numbers
    • Allows the app to call phone numbers without your intervention. This may result in unexpected charges or calls. Note that this doesn't allow the app to call emergency numbers. Malicious apps may cost you money by making calls without confirmation, or dial carrier codes which cause incoming calls to be automatically forwarded to another number.
