TTC Font Collection Installation Requirements for Total Launcher
Font Compatibility: TrueType Collections (.ttc)
Compatibility Notice: Total Launcher does not natively support multi-face `.ttc` (TrueType Collection) font files. Individual `.ttf` or `.otf` font files must be individually extracted before assigning them to text objects inside Total Launcher.
Understanding the Limitation
A `.ttc` file is a container housing multiple font styles and weights (e.g., Light, Regular, Bold, Italic) in a single file to save space. Because Total Launcher utilizes standard Android `Typeface` pickers without an internal font-index selection interface, pointing directly at a `.ttc` file usually results in:
- Index 0 Lock: The Launcher loads only the first font face in the container (typically Light or Regular).
- Font Fallback: The text object silently falls back to the default system font.
- File Picker Error: The file is greyed out or fails to parse upon selection.
Step 1: Extract Individual .ttf Files
Before opening Total Launcher, unpack the `.ttc` collection into standalone font files using one of the following methods:
Web-Based Extractor (Quickest for Mobile or PC)
- Upload the `.ttc` file to a free font extraction tool (e.g., Transfonter).
- Download the extracted `.zip` archive.
- Unzip the individual `.ttf` or `.otf` files (e.g.,
FontName-Regular.ttf,FontName-Bold.ttf).
Step 2: Install Extracted Fonts in Total Launcher
Best Practice: Create a dedicated font directory on the device (e.g., /Internal Storage/Fonts/) to keep your custom `.ttf` files organized and easily accessible during layout builds.
- Copy the extracted `.ttf` or `.otf` files to local device storage.
- Long-press the target Text or Graphic Text object in the layout and tap Options (gear icon).
- Go to Text > Font (or Typeface).
- Tap the Folder / Local File icon in the font picker dialog.
- Browse to the font directory, select the desired `.ttf` file, and apply.
